Book your stay for a long weekend, midweek or full week, to enjoy the stunning nature at your front door. Yet, we are at walking distance (bring your hiking shoes!) of Plombières-les-Bains, with its charming architecture, shops and restaurants. Our two gites are 18th century farmhouses with three or four floors. The floors are connected by staircases covered with robust carpet, so that humans and dogs can walk on them safely. Downstairs you will find the kitchen and bathroom with shower cubicle, sink and toilet. Both bathroom and kitchen can be heated electrically. The first floor is reserved for the living room, with a sitting area and dining area around a wood stove. The top floor is a sleeping loft. Both gites are atmospheric cottages, modernly furnished with respect for the old architectural style.

After 8 years in Switzerland, we -Marije & Luc- have settled in France to be closer to our family. We chose the Vosges mountains, for the relatively moderate climate: Not as hot as the West and South of France in Summer, snow and frost in Winter. We feel most at home amidst abundant "nature", but we do value being close to "culture": Plombières-les-Bains has a lot to offer, walk downtown with us and discover its restaurants, its shops and its 19th century heritage. You are most welcome!

Since we settled in the Vosges, November 2025, we have experienced an 'old-skool' winter with snow and frost, which has prompted us to modernize the gîtes (insulation, electrical heating) and our home (insulation, heat pump, insulated shutters). The Summer of 2026 was quite the opposite, hot and far too dry, but we have been so lucky that our natural source (where we get our drinking water!) has continued to well all through the drought. We are determined to continue to use our natural water resources the best possible way. Around us, on our 2 HA of forest terrain on a steep mountain slope, we have witnessed the impact of climate change over the past decades. Some of the local tree species do not have the resilience against drought and heat and suffer a lot. It is because of this, that we have hired a local expert forester from the start, to support us in keeping our forest alive, under the current tough circumstances. October 2026 autumn storms have confirmed, finally, that we need to continue to actively manage our forest, and that is where we stand when we wrote this text. It remains without saying, that in our house and cottages, we actively work on sustainability for ourselves and our guests: - we propose drinking water from our natural source, next to providing drinking water in containers: 'bricks' instead of plastic bottles, delivered by sustainable producers from the Vosges and the French Alpes - we facilitate recycling of household 'waste' - we serve breakfast and diner using local produce, prioritizing local and organic producers - we drive an EV for our daily shopping (etc), our 4WD Dacia is used exclusively when the going gets tough/cold
