Digital Detox in Wild Luxury

Set on a hillside in protected woodland with stunning valley views and between two of France’s most beautiful medieval villages, this intimate retreat is a place to slow down and truly land. Designed for travellers who value craftsmanship, nature and quiet luxury, everything here is deeply rooted in the land it stands on.
The spaces have been handcrafted using natural materials, traditional techniques and a strong sense of artistry. Stay in one of the luxury yurts or the cosy hilltop caravan, each with sweeping valley views, birdsong mornings and long golden sunsets. Interiors are warm, calming and thoughtfully designed to feel both beautiful and lived-in.
Daily life here unfolds outdoors. Bathe in a unique earthship-style shower built from earthbags, lime and cob, with glass bottle walls that shimmer with light. Sink into the wood-fired hot tub as the scent of Douglas fir and oak drifts through the air. Cook slowly in the living-roof outdoor kitchen surrounded by herbs, or fire up the cob pizza oven made from clay sourced directly from the land.
At the heart of the retreat is a handcrafted timber roundhouse with a living roof, built using wood from our own forest. It’s a sanctuary for stillness, reflection, yoga, music or simply sitting by the fire and letting the nervous system soften.
For guests seeking deeper relaxation, luxury spa treatments using hot stones and bespoke essential oil blends are available to book in advance. Breathwork sessions can also be arranged, offering a powerful yet gentle way to reset, release tension and reconnect - made even more potent by the natural surroundings.
The wider landscape invites exploration: ancient pilgrimage paths, wildflower meadows, organic gardens and nearby villages rich in stone architecture, local markets and outstanding French cuisine. You’re perfectly placed to explore the celebrated wine regions of Bordeaux, Cahors and Bergerac, or simply wander, taste and linger.
This is a place for conscious/eco travellers who value authenticity over excess, nature over noise and experiences that feel real, grounding and nourishing. No chlorine pools. No artificial spa lighting. Just forest.

I’m a British-born facilitator & organiser who moved here in 2019, drawn by the land, the pace of life, and the possibility of building something rooted and meaningful. My background spans yoga teaching, breathwork facilitation, eco-psychology, 8 Shields nature connection, permaculture design & event organisation, .
Before this chapter, I worked for many years as a social worker & organised grassroots events for climate action, women's empowerment and other community festivals.

Sustainability isn’t a feature of our place - it’s the foundation it’s built on.
Talbérou has been created using permaculture principles, with deep respect for the land we live on and care for. Many of the structures here are built from natural and locally sourced materials, including earth, lime, clay, timber from our own woodland, and reclaimed elements. Our earthship-style outdoor showers, cob pizza oven, living-roof kitchen, and roundhouse are all examples of building in dialogue with the land rather than imposing on it.
We grow organic produce on-site, keep free-roaming chickens, compost food waste, and design our systems to minimise impact while enhancing biodiversity. The property sits within protected woodland (Natura 2000), and daily life here is shaped around care for the ecosystem - from low-impact lighting to conscious water use and encouraging guests to slow down and connect with nature.
Sustainable development, for us, means creating a place that nourishes people without depleting the land - a living, breathing environment that supports long-term ecological health, community, and wellbeing.
