In spring there is an abundance of flower festivals; In summer the weekly markets provide a riot of beautiful local produce, honey, olives, cheeses, baked goods, duck, fish, foie gras and flowers - perfect for a gourmet table. Hundreds of local wineries offer excellent local Saint Mont and Madiran wines. We are also in the heart of Armagnac country. The village known as the medieval capital of Armagnac is just 15 minutes from us and its coop can introduce you to a variety of local Armagnacs. After all of that food you might be inclined to explore the local greenways and Compostella routes, either on foot or by bike. These will take you as far as you wish to travel, extending out in every direction across Europe. They extend north across France and south across the pyrenees into Spain and Portugal, offering an almost unlimited opportunity for those that love to hike and ramble. Then there are five local swimming lakes - two within 15 minutes of us, and three more 30 and 40 minutes away. A local airstrip (20 minutes away) offers recreational flights in small engine planes and gliders, and in the same village a formula one race course offers diversions of a different kind. Roman ruins and museum can be found 30 minutes away and a western branch of the French Canal system with its lovely sleepy waterways - is only 30 minutes north.
