Nestled deep in the rolling countryside of Burgundy’s Côte d’Or, The Barn at Frôlois is a light-filled, modern barn conversion designed for complete peace, comfort, and restorative quiet. Situated in a picturesque village with just 175 residents, this sanctuary offers sweeping, elevated views across the valley while placing you within effortless reach of Burgundy’s rich historical heritage—just 45 minutes from Dijon and an hour from the world-renowned vineyards of Beaune. Restored to the owners high standards, the accommodation sleeps up to five guests across three beautifully styled bedrooms. The master suite features a generous double bed (180 cm x 200 cm), an en-suite shower room, and uninterrupted panoramic window views over the valley. A spacious twin bedroom (two 90 cm x 200 cm beds) offers a similar light-filled sanctuary with its own en-suite up a few steps. For a fifth guest, a charming single bedroom across the hall provides a cosy retreat complete with its own dedicated WC and washbasin. Downstairs, the house opens into an expansive open-plan living area centred around gathering and relaxed dining. The fully fitted kitchen and dining table for six flow seamlessly into a soft, inviting lounge equipped with UK Free-Sat TV, a DVD player, and free Wi-Fi. Dual French doors open directly onto a wooden decked terrace, letting gentle breezes filter through. Here, outdoor dining for five and a gas grill make al fresco summer meals effortless, while a lower garden terrace lined with comfortable sun loungers invites you to soak in the tranquil countryside backdrop. Families traveling with little ones will find every detail anticipated: complimentary baby gear including sturdy cots with fresh linens, high chairs, a Baby-Dan playpen, baby monitors, potties, specialized tableware, and a toddler paddling pool for warm afternoon sun. Pets are equally welcome to join your getaway upon request. To make your stay truly effortless, your hosts live right next door, ready to offer insider knowledge on local châteaux, arrange private cellar wine tastings, or take the 'self' out of self-catering. Enjoy home-cooked meals prepared for you on request, bespoke children’s menus, or simply wake up to freshly baked artisan bread delivered warm to your windowsill each morning.

Our Eco-Friendly Philosophy at The Barn At The Barn, sustainability isn't an afterthought or a modern buzzword—it is woven directly into the fabric, story, and daily running of our home. When we set out to restore this historic barn, our guiding principle was simple: honour the building's heritage by taking our time, respecting the surrounding environment, and making conscious choices that reduce our overall environmental footprint. Rather than rushing through a quick, high-waste makeover, we chose a slow, intentional approach to restoration that prioritizes longevity, mindfulness, and timeless craftsmanship. Reclaiming, Reusing, and Reimagining The greenest building materials are often the ones that already exist. Throughout the renovation process, we carefully preserved the character of the original structure by reusing materials found within the house and redesigning them for modern, functional life. Traditional stone, original wooden beams, and rustic features were painstakingly restored rather than replaced. Wherever new elements were required, we prioritized recycled and upcycled materials, sourcing items locally to give forgotten pieces a beautiful second life. This slow design methodology not only minimizes industrial waste and transport emissions, but also gives the cottage its distinct visual warmth, soulful atmosphere, and authentic sense of place. Sustainable Daily Living in Frôlois Our commitment to the environment extends seamlessly into everyday stay for our guests. The commune of Frôlois benefits from a forward-thinking, modern waste management and recycling infrastructure, making low-impact living effortless during your holiday. Household Recycling: We provide dedicated in-house sorting bins that align with the village’s convenient weekly packaging and paper collection. Glass Recycling: Local glass bottle collection points throughout the village ensure all wine and beverage containers are properly recycled. Composting: To keep organic kitchen waste out of landfills, we encourage the use of our garden compost bins, turning food scraps into nutrient-rich soil for our garden and local greenery. Continuous Improvement & Future Carbon Goals Sustainability is a continuous journey. While we have already introduced energy-efficient appliances, water-saving fixtures, and eco-friendly cleaning products throughout the property, we are actively planning our next phase of green upgrades.
