L’Atelier

In the countryside between Pleurtuit and La Richardais, this newly renovated studio offers a peaceful & stylish base from which to explore the Côte d’Émeraude & the wider coast of Brittany. 5 minutes from Dinard, 12 minutes from St.Malo/ St.Lunaire. The atelier is on the grounds of Kerlola, a traditional farmhouse, where we live. The two buildings are independent, with no windows or direct outlook between them, although we share the driveway and part of the garden. You’ll have your own private terrace and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the surrounding countryside. The studio is a bright, beautifully designed open-plan space, with a generous kitchen, dining area and comfortable seating. Large south- and west-facing windows fill the room with light throughout the day, while the private terrace is a lovely spot for morning coffee, an evening glass of wine or watching the seasons change across the orchard and fields. This is a genuinely rural setting, surrounded by farmland. You may occasionally see a tractor working in the neighbouring field, but otherwise it is wonderfully quiet, mostly birdsong, wind in the trees and, depending on the weather and direction of the wind, the sound of the ferry leaving Saint-Malo in the morning. Sleeping The main bed is a very comfortable 160 cm queen-size bed on the ground floor, with views towards the garden. The bed folds away during the day, giving you a surprisingly generous open space if you would like to practise yoga, exercise, dance or simply enjoy the room differently. Above the dining area is a charming mezzanine with a 140 cm double bed, two skylights and another very comfortable mattress. Access is via a sliding ladder/stair, which is straightforward to climb but may not suit guests with mobility difficulties or a fear of heights. The mezzanine is protected by a secure catamaran-style net, creating a lovely little hideaway for reading, resting or enjoying a quiet afternoon. It can be a particularly fun space for children, although we ask that you only book if you are happy for your children to use the ladder independently and safely. For safety, the mezzanine is intended for resting and reading rather than energetic play, and no more than 100 kg should be on the mezzanine at any one time. There is no television, but the studio has excellent Wi-Fi and speakers, so it is easy to stay connected or simply create your own soundtrack for a relaxing evening.
